This is your community, let's build

“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Peace.
Welcome to The Upperground Community / Network, a non-profit collaborative website built for connecting Positive, Progressive, and Purposeful Urban Culture (read more) in the Southern California Region (LA, OC, SD).

Here's two quick ways to connect and get involved:

GET A PROFILE: Start representin' yourself (or your crew) in the areas of DJing  / Emceeing / Graff / Breaking / etc. Regardless of the location, venue, affiliation, we're about supporting the community as one, bringing diversity together.

GET INVOLVED LOCALLY: We're about serving the Hip Hop community through the tools this site provides (calendars, searchable profiles, forums), because this site is by you - It's not about business, one venue, or a certain artist. We provide an alternative to worldly Hip Hop and activate this art form for social progression by focusing on what matters first that we all have in common, soul.

We're doing this for the love of the culture and not for the money (no banners). We're also trying to keep it as open as possible to those who want to do the same. Thanks for checking us out, if you like what you see you can help promote through our myspace or other tools like our podcast. Invite a friend and spread the word. & keep diggin' for that something to find.

You can also get involved with us on these other network sites:

Please Note: This space promotes positive and conscious movements for Hip Hop culture, so in respect to others we ask for people to refrain from politicing (read), explicit language, and keep open minds. Above all, we encourge being true to yourself, which might mean this site is not for certain people, and respect that.

READ THIS 1st: What is The Upperground?
Written by Audible

The Upperground Community is a non-profit online collaborative project, by people like yourself, to uplift Hip Hop culture by providing a equal opportunity network of positive Hip Hop people, places, and ideas in Southern California.

This community is also dedicated in supporting and promoting the venue model of Sessions by encouraging, training, and learning towards building urban arts communities everywhere.

We're fundamentally a Hip Hop community that wants to move Hip Hop to higher grounds calling for a reformation of this culture to be what it was created to be.

Basically, that's all you got to know, but if you want to know more read on...
