Hip-hop without a history will remain a fad, a superficial gimmick. The Upperground exists for those who seek more than that, knowing that there is more than that, and seeking this requires taking the culture back to its roots with a fresh perspective: a death and resurrection of the art form. We don't want to forget where Hip-hop has been, but in rebirth and going back to the essence we find its purpose for existing through its creator. We realize this culture is a blessing and gift, and in response to that we give it back in serving our local community however we can.
“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"For even [Jesus] did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45
"There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of [slavery]." Hosea 2:15
