The Upperground Community is a non-profit online collaborative project, by people like yourself, to uplift Hip Hop culture by providing a equal opportunity network of positive Hip Hop people, places, and ideas in Southern California.

This community is also dedicated in supporting and promoting the venue model of Sessions by encouraging, training, and learning towards building urban arts communities everywhere.

We're fundamentally a Hip Hop community that wants to move Hip Hop to higher grounds calling for a reformation of this culture to be what it was created to be.

Basically, that's all you got to know, but if you want to know more read on...

We're about you (others) - Just in the fact you're interested enough to be reading this, we want to help you in searching and learning to progress Hip Hop culture (emceeing, deejaying, breaking, graffiti). By using an online website community, we provide a place for the alternative to be found that can be accessed everywhere and grow by the people who live it.

We ARE NOT an organization (like crew, label, or club) ... In fact, we help OTHER people's venues, crews, etc. as long as it serves the above interest being positive and progressive. We have no hidden agendas.

We ARE a focused community (family). In being a community, we support people by giving tools, tips, and resources to mature on. And if you have ideas of how we might help you, write us! We need your help, and if you're interested enough we need you to be on our core team (mentors) to help others.

We're about helping people start Sessions, if you've ever tried to put on an event, you know how hard it is to find people in your area of a certain talent needed, that's why this site is specifically serving the Southern Californian area. We seek to create a database of talent for this purpose, networking is all up to you. In this way, the online community is the support for many things to happen. One thing we hope to do is to become free from the restraints of the traditional physical venue through mobile sessions (venues that focus on the people) that can be duplicated and cater to uniqueness of their community. We're able to do this because the internet provides instant call to action and promotion.

For fans of the art, this is a great jumping point to find similar minded artists or promote those of which you know through Music reviews and our Open Forum. You can also comment on artists that are a part of the community, hopefully with constructive criticism or encouragement.

For artists & managers, we provide a street team like core group in the niche of conscious Hip Hop music. We also want to provide learning tools (small group curriculum) and faith based support groups for those on tour by a network of churches that exist to care for Hip Hop culture's people.

That's the basics, but more about this as the site develops... just look around and you'll get a feel of what we're about.

"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." Col 3:2
