Why Art? |

What is the basis for our belief that christians should be taught to
splatter paint on walls in outrageous sizes, in different colors and
contorted shapes ? Self-recognition, self glorification , attention?
Life magazine ran an article in July of 1994 about a group of nuns that
were in their 80's, 90's and centenarians. All of these women were
alert, articulate and showed no signs of Alzheimer's disease or any
other form of mental degeneration. Why? They said they loved to do
puzzles every day. They exercised their minds daily. This article
focused on the fact that we think by creating dendrite connections in
the neural pathways of the brain. Neurologically this is called "use
dependent plasticity." If we don't continue to create new neural
connections, the brain will begin to atrophy. This is the onset of
senility.
I rock the west coast! fresh coast! triumphant! My
creativity will keep me young? What ? Is this a joke no not at all
besides the ability to continue to be creative and teach others so that
they can stay healthy mentally and articulate. Innercity art forms are
impactive in our society to congregate many young participants to
express there inner beings.
So now that we covered partially the health basis, lets cover the eternal
EXODUS 31:1
AND THE Lord spake unto Moses, saying, See, I called by name Bezaleel
the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have
filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and
in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, To devise cunning
works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
The
scripture's go on to explain how GOD has imputed wisdom into the hearts
of men. Men who have already discovered their gifts for SERVANTHOOD
unto GOD. You see these men were already creative and worked as
workmen. Only when the spirit of God was poured out upon these men was
God able to communicate His specific design for the furnishings in the
holy tabernacle
NOW...ROMANS 12:6-8
Having then gifts
differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy,
let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let
us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth on teaching; Or he that
exorteth, on exortation: he that givith , let him do it with
simplicity;he that ruleth, with dilligence; he that showeth mercy, with
cheerfulness.
GIFTS DIFFERING ACCORDING TO GRACE

1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-11
NOW CONCERNING spiritual gifts, bretheren , I would not have you
ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb
idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no
man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no
man can say that Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are
diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of
administration, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of
operations, but it is the same God wich workethall in all. But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For
to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word
of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit;
to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the
working of miricles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of
spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues: But all these worketh that
one and the self same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he
will.
AND FINALLY...
EPHESIANS 4:7-13
But
unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the
gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led
captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what
is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the
earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above
all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some
,apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
These
apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers are called to the
edifying of the body of Christ. As an artist I believe that the
surrenderring of the artistic talents that God has blessed me with will
undoubtedly edify the body of Christ but also impact my neighborhood as
God gives me specific instructions on what he wants to communicate to
the unsaved thorough a murel that will stare people in their faces not
once in a day but every day as a murel is devinely placed in a specific
area where it is to be seen by a whole neighborhood every day.
