Author Review:

Lyrics: Housing so many different style emcees in each song is an amazing accompishment. On the slight downside, it turns into a take turns style and very little interaction between emcees, understandable. That being said, every emcee brings it strong and doesn't compromise their style and lyrical wordplay they are suited for and definitely fits the tracks provided.

Beats: There's a consistancy of hard hitting beats, carrying the same vibe but switched up with different sounds. Tracks need to be played loud or it won't sound right, that kind of vibe. Scratches ride the beats and to much to add to the melody and rough feel. One track skit seems to be a glimpse of how they make their music with them talking about a certain track that sounded too pimpy.

Conscious: Deepspace 5 drops a lot of knowledge, with known lyrical intellectuals like ManChild and Listener who definitely stand out. On the spiritual side, its very open yet very Christian. Mostly approaching it by talking about their relationship and not forcing doctrine. But for those who understand the metaphors and theology, it's a treat. This is definitely not your stereotypical way about speaking the gospel in Hip Hop, which is a much welcome way of getting spiritually fed while wylin' out.

Choice Tracks: Crumbs, Half-Hearted, Cityscaping, They Say

Sample Lyrics:

"They say it's crunk, it's dope, it's hot, but 9 out of 10 it's not, man it's just a plot to get you to bow to their plan, to get you from touching life with your own hands, they say you're not Hip Hop if you don't rock ice, you could spend the money but what's the real price, if you wear someone's hat you're bound to get lice, i guess I don't gamble cause I won't roll the dice, I guess I'm not rippin' if I don't rip a verse, I guess I'm not livid if I don't spit a curse, I guess I'm not digging if I don't move the dirt, I guess I'm not a Christian if I don't go to church, but maybe what they say is really how it works, they got an infastructure with a big network, they say they got a boss who's a big head jerk, they tell me I should work for that big head jerk, NO..." - Sivion

Rarely can one hold together an album featuring large groups, especially when they consist of almost all rappers (2 DJs). D5 pulls it off with head nodding beats and interesting topics, but each song increasingly sets up a pattern of sound that turn to be predictable after a while even if every rapper is unique. Scratches are sharply on point emulating rhyme patterns and adding personality. Where these things work, it makes all other tracks similar forgetful (skippable), which is fine because there's tons of tracks to choose from to please most kinds of styles.
