Few events can claim to both capture and define a “Movement”, yet this is precisely what The Underground Movement strives to achieve.
Recently, the media and government have been magnifying the negative message portrayed by commercial Hip-Hop music, but The Underground Movement in conjunction with TheVessel and TheMovement Church, are smashing that negative image. The Underground Movement is very different from your average Hip-Hop event in that it was created to expose all the positive elements of the Urban lifestyle. From the unique Hip-Hop lyricists, Poets, Break-Dancers, Graffiti Artists, Youth Knowledge Workshops, to our vender village that will offer a place for businesses and Churches in the community to support the local youth. The Underground Movement has become a genuine rite of passage for thousands of Urban enthusiasts. It prides itself for producing a spectacular musical and artistic environment that is safe, exciting, and memorable for all ages.
On Saturday, December 1st, 2007, The Underground Movement is loaded up with an action-packed line up that will leave this night to be remembered by all who attend.
The event will have a double headliner of LMNO of the world famous Visionaries and POEMS of LA Symphony. theBreax, who have been getting nationwide notoriety, are bringing their fresh-live style. San Diego based artists NomiS, Insufficient Funds, Afaar, high school “prodigy” Proverb the Poet, along with Spoken Word Poets Judah 1, Ant Black and B-boys will set the tone for this positive Urban experience. As we enter the holiday season, you can expect that Santa will have a surprise guest artist for this eventful evening!
The Underground Movement prides itself for not only producing a spectacular musical and artistic event, but strives to educate our youth by offering workshops that teach LIF (Lessons In Faith). These sessions provide answers to the dilemmas that our youth faces everyday. Our speakers have walked the walk and now talk the talk from their personal experiences. Their weapon now is the Bible. Workshops Topics include – “Pressures on an Athlete”, “Relational Evangelism” and “Sex with GOD”. There will also be a Q&A session with the performers as they share there personal experiences in the Hip-Hop world and speak on the current state of Hip-Hop in the media. The Underground Movement will establish a forum of unparalleled diversity and excellence by uniting our youth in one eventful evening. This is real Hip-Hop.
We would like to invite all media, news paper, magazine, television reporters, local businesses, church’s, and school’s to come out for this night of entertainment, inspiration and awareness. "Saving the world by hanging out: A look at holistic salvation in a postmodern age." by Erik Willits
/ When we follow Jesus around through the scriptures we see him wanting people to experience "eternal life"! The interesting thing was that for Jesus eternal life started the very moment they accepted him and would continue into heaven. "I have come to give you life, the very best kind of life" Jesus says. This eternal quality of life, the best kind of life starts NOW when people experience the salvation of Jesus and begin to follow him.
As followers of Jesus we are on a mission to save the world, which is all about getting people to experience Jesus and his eternal quality of life, his abundant life. Maybe in our day and culture this will happen when we start to intentionally hang out with our friends who don't know Jesus yet. Maybe the days of scripture on dollar bills or little pamphlets are gone and instead relationships will be the vehicle for this message of abundant life to be delivered so that the world will know Jesus and be save for this day and all days.

"God wants us all to have great sex"
by Jobey Mcginty
/God wants us all to have great sex......thank God for that! The truth is, it
was the original point in even creating sex, which is arguably the most
powerful experience a human can have. So what is the big deal that is being
made over sex? Why do so many people view it as "wrong" or "immoral?" What is the truth about this amazing creation.
Sex is no different than anything else in life that bears a mysterious
personality. Like everything else, to get to know it and understand this
creation, it is best, and most obvious, to go to the source and ask the
questions.
So what does God say about sex? Does He support it? Is He a cosmic
killjoy? Does He have a sick sense of humor and likes to see us suffer
through abstinence? Does He have "rules," and if so, why? Or does He even
care at all how we choose to pursue our sexuality?
theVessel gathers every 1st and 3rd friday at theCanvas Cafe for an open mic night featuring the best local artist... 1370 San Marcos Blvd. suite 120A, San Marcos, Ca 92078... There is a $3 cover ...
