Who are we?

We're Santa Ana's Hip Hop Community being expressed, building up, and having fun. The event is open to everyone and anyone who wants to practice or learn, but is hosted by a volunteer group from different churches in the area who practice the elements (emceeing, deejaying, graff art, breaking) for God's purposes and glory. For more info the volunteers who lead the Session, check out www.UrbanArtsOutreach.org or visit our myspace page at www.Myspace.com/SaintCitySession

What can you do here?

Since this is an open freestyle session and your community, there's not really a limit to what you can do, but there's also a lot of reponsiblity to keep it alive and open to youths (keep it clean). We're always looking for more volunteers to help progress this community and take care of it. We're trusting you to make it all happen so we can keep it going and even get better.

Here's a couple values we have to keep
the session open to all ages and keep it on the positive:

+ Constructive Speech
- Build each other
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
Eph 4:29
+ Civility - Respect each other
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you..."
Matt 7:12
+ Contribution - Teach each other by example
"Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care... not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be... not lording it over... but being examples to the flock."
1 Peter 5

Volunteer Opportunities:
Mentoring Elements – Be available for youths in the areas of graffiti, rapping, producing, deejaying, break dancing, and more. This can be as simple as doing what you love to do on a regular basis, to interacting, teaching, and facilitating other people.

Information Table – Greet, direct, and be available for prayer. Our information table is the center of communication at the events and help us keep record of what the people want through surveys, guestbook, and inputting data.

Tear down/Setup Crew
– We need people who can come 5 or 6 p.m. to setup lighting, tables, chairs, and art areas. Likewise, at 10 p.m. to put everything back the way it was in the multipurpose room. This is a greatly appreciated need.

Donate Art Supplies/Goods – We go through supplies fast with the amount of talent we have at every event. Below is a list of things we could use right now:
  1. Duct Tape
  2. Sketch Pads
  3. Paint, Primer, and Markers
  4. Drop Cloths or Tarps for Painters
  5. Functional CD players with Headphones
  6. Hip-hop CDs, gear, or magazines for giveaways
(We can suggest places to acquire these)
  7. Snacks, Food, Drinks (We have a kitchen!)

Promotions (Street Team) – We need people who can communicate our vision. This can include, but is not limited to, printing our black and white flyers, cutting them, and distributing them to key areas like schools, music stores, and churches. Online promotion is also helpful.

Documentation – We need people to take pictures and video what happens during the Session for purposes of recording the history, promoting, and getting future people involved.

Observe – Just come over, you'll find opportunities for sure, we're open to ideas!
